Basic full-wave +5V power supply
This circuit shows the design of a basic full-wave CT ( center tap ), regulated +5 vdc power supply. The circuit will supply 0.5 amps. The transformer should be capable of delivering 0.6 amps at 8 vrms. In the circuit, the transformer steps down the voltage, the diodes rectify it to full-wave DC ( each diode rectifies one half of the cycle ), the 2700uF capacitor filters the voltage, and the LM340-5.0 regulates the voltage to 5 volts. The 0.1uF is added for transient response. NOTE...BE CAREFUL OF LINE VOLTAGE AT PRIMARY OF THE TRANSFORMER.
