Power drop-out detector
This graphic shows the ripple voltage versus output current on a full-wave rectified linear power supply. Curves are shown for 3 different capacitor values. You may interpret other values from the graph. For example for a capacitor that is twice as large, the ripple current will be half as large. Another example... for current 10 times smaller ripple voltage is also 10 times smaller. The formula used is CV=IT. C is capacitance, V is peak to peak ripple voltage, I is current, and T is time (1/period... 1/120 for full-wave).
